Then he picked pizza for dinner and my family and Jamie came over for cake and ice cream. Isaac's parents couldn't make it because they work in the temple on Saturdays. But we went up to Ogden the next day for dinner with them.
I made Luke a basketball cake for his birthday because we gave him a little basketball hoop for a present. He's obsessed with balls and used to call them "soccer hoops". After a million corrections he now calls them "basket hoops". Close enough.
Here are some things about Luke:
- Luke is all boy. I swear he is getting wilder every day. He loves running around, climbing on things, jumping on things, body slamming things, throwing things, and hitting things. (The hitting is really becoming a problem because he smacks you in the face if you do anything he doesn't like--especially when you try to buckle him in his car seat.)
- Luke shows no signs of potty training. We ask him all the time if he want to sit on the potty or needs to poop, but he never wants to. He's sat on the seat a few times, but nothing happens. Now whenever I ask him if he's poopy he said, "Nope, just fartin' ".
- Luke is a really happy kid and smiles and laughs all the times--which makes it difficult to get mad at him when he's naughty.
- Luke is a stinker about taking pictures. He will smile for a nano-second, and then make a million funny faces. These were taken in about a 30 second time period.
- Luke loves dumping things out. When he's bored of being at home (or when I'm in the shower) he just empties cupboards. The worst part is that he opens all the puzzle boxes and throws the pieces all over. Argh. It looks like a tornado hit when I step out of the shower.
- Luke is getting very opinionated, but he still can't communicate as well as he thinks he can. He will yell "GREEN ONE" over and over, so I'll give him the green cup and he gets mad. Eventually he points to the pink one and yells "Green One". This is a frequent occurrence with colors. He states it so definitively, but he's usually wrong. The other day we were at a friend's house and he started demanding "CHEESE" so we offered him a string cheese and cheddar cheese which he refused. Then he grabbed the bag of raisins and said "CHEESE". So that can be frustrating, but it's hilarious when I look back at it.
- We have been working on saying "Can I have _____ please?" because Luke is very persistent. If he wants something, like fruit snacks (which happens about 50 times a day), he will just yell it over and over and over again. I try to reason with him, distract him, and communicate with him, but after 30+ mins of listening to his repetitive yelling I usually cave.
- Luke is hilarious. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what makes him so funny, but everything he does is just so stinking adorable. As I said before, this kid gets away with everything because he's so dang cute and funny.
- And Luke is still a mama's boy. He still snuggles with me in the mornings and lets me rock him to sleep at nap time. He often says "Love you" and it's the sweetest thing.
