On July 13th Luke had is half birthday. Here are some things about Luke:
- Luke loves playing with Nate, Lizzie, and Jett. He is all boy and loves getting dirty, throwing things, hitting things, playing monster truck, cars, and dinosaurs.

- Luke is a handful right now. He has been cooped up at home too long with this pandemic and he often starts acting up when he is bored. Luke just whines and whines and whines all the time. It's really quite unbearable. We keep trying to get him to talk in a "happy voice", but for some reason he then starts using a baby voice which is almost as bad as the whiny voice. Fortunately we are able to go outside and play with friends, otherwise we probably wouldn't survive.
- Luke has been learning a lot about how to make good choices and not hit or be mean to other kids. He is doing really well at learning to be nice.

- A few weeks ago we were trying Aspen's new snorkel at Steve's parent's house and I talked Luke into trying it. Normally he swims around with his life jacket on, but I convinced him to try without it. And he started swimming on his own! It was incredible. He loves to swim and be in the water.
- Luke is a super picky eater. We practically have to force him to eat at every meal, and he sits at the dinner table FOREVER each night. I always think about a line for "A Christmas Story" that says something like "every family has a kid that won't eat" and then the mom gets him to eat by making piggy sounds. That's Luke. If it's not candy, he won't willingly eat it.
- This summer Luke started riding his bike without training wheels. He picked it up really quickly, with just one or two tries.
- Luke still loves coming to give me snuggles in the morning and that's my favorite time with my little buddy. He tells me all about his crazy dreams (I'm pretty sure he makes most of them up on the spot). And he still falls asleep in the car or cuddling with he in the afternoons sometimes. I love seeing him sleep-he's so cute and peaceful.

- But Luke is a weird little dude. As I was writing these last few blog entry and looking at all the pictures of Luke, he's a crazy little thing. And his camera smile is so funny and looks like he's going to eat you. But he's also super funny and can make us all laugh.

- Luke loves Hazel, but doesn't know how to play with her appropriately. He's always smashing her or throwing things at her, but he's trying to learn how to be soft to a little baby. And there are times when he is super sweet to her.
- Luke loves dressing up. He went a few weeks wearing his dragon costume every day (only part of the day).

- I worry about Luke being outnumbered with all his sisters, he is always begging for me to do his hair or paint his fingernails like I do with Sophie and Aspen. But he has a bunch of little boys on the street to play with so he'll be ok.

Luke is definitely our hardest kid at the moment. We keep waiting for him to grow out of his whiny-ness and start using his words better, but we are working on it. But we still love our little man so much.
