Luke's 4th Birthday

In January Luke turned 4 years old.  Recently, Luke had been watching the original Star Wars movies with Isaac.  So he decided he wanted a Star Wars birthday party.  He really wanted to give all his friends a light saber.  But I didn't want a bunch of 4 year old boys running around my house beating each other with light sabers.  My girls all have summer birthdays, so I have usually had their parties outside.  But since Luke is in the middle of winter (and he's a crazy boy), I had a hard time thinking of a party idea for him.

But on his birthday he opened his presents from family.  He got a new ski helmet and googles and a few little toys from his sisters.

Isaac got home from work a little early on his birthday, so the two of them went to the aquarium together.  I think it was nice for him to have some alone time with daddy.

Then we went out to dinner at Wingers (Luke's choice).  My kids call it "fingers", no clue why.  And then we came back home for cake and ice cream.  We had a special guest make an appearance.  Steve dressed up in his Kylo Ren costume.  Luke's mouth fell open as soon as he saw Kylo Ren and just stared him down.  He looked a little scared.  So we asked Luke if he knew who it was (because he's only seen the original Star Wars and doesn't really know who Kylo Ren is), and he just said, "Steve".  Haha.  But I think he still really liked it.

I made a galaxy cake.  I wanted to try a mirror glaze on it, but everything I read said they don't taste very good.  So I decided to just have a regular buttercream so I didn't ruin his birthday cake.

A few days later we had his birthday party at Funtopia.  It is an indoor climbing gym for kids.  It was going out of business at the end of the month, so we were some of the last people to go there.  But it was perfect for a party.  They only let 15-20 people climb at a time, so it was basically only our people there.  And we had some pizza and cupcakes in the party room.  The best part was that I didn't have to clean up anything!

Here are some things about Luke:

  • Luke loves to play with his friends and sisters.  He is so bored when they go to school and leave him home.
  • Luke whines and whines and whines.  I keep hoping that he will grow out of this, but it hasn't happened yet.  It is enough to drive a person crazy.
  • Luke has so much energy and is such a funny kid.  He makes us laugh all the time with funny things he says.
We love Luke so much.  Happy Birthday Buddy.
