Aspen is 6 1/2 Years Old

In January it was Aspen's half birthday.  Here are some things about Aspen:

  • At home she is super loud and wild, but she's completely opposite at school.  Her teacher says she hardly ever talks.  But she's super well-behaved and does everything the teacher asks.
  • Aspen loves teaching "Lukey School".  When she comes home from school they go into the book nook and she teaches him.  She has a very specific teacher voice she uses and it cracks me up.  But she is super positive and encouraging with Luke.  Aspen's teacher this year has been amazing and always compliments her, and I can totally hear Aspen mimicking the things her teacher says when she plays with Luke.
  • Aspen is an amazing big sister.  She is super helpful with Hazel and shows the most interest in her.  Sophie helps, but usually we have to ask her to.  Aspen enjoys holding and playing with Hazel.
  • Aspen reminds me of me a lot.  We used to butt heads a lot when she was younger, but now she and I have a great relationship.  She's super particular, has a great attention to detail, is very stubborn, is very efficient and fast, and likes to tease people.
  • She still likes to look pretty and have her hair done.  She's definitely more into clothes and fashion than Sophie.
  • This fall Aspen got sick and really dehydrated.  We ended up taking her to the ER twice to get IV fluids.  It was scary, but she was a trooper.

  • Aspen is really good at doing what needs to be done.  She wakes up, gets dressed, gets breakfast, etc. without me telling her a million times.  And after school she comes home and immediately does her homework without dragging her feet all afternoon.  She's become such a good reader and all the kids in her class tell her she's the best at math.  And when I volunteered in her class a bunch of the kids told me that she's one of the best artists too.
  • Aspen is a muscle-head.  That little girl's bum hurts so bad when she sits on you.  We went rock climbing a while ago, and she can just muscle herself up anything.  She has man arm strength.  She recently climbed all the way up the rope climb at tumbling.  She was about 3/4 of the way up and I could tell she was getting tired, but she just paused for a minute and then muscled her way up the rest.  She's super determined and hard working.
I love Aspen so much.  She's become my little buddy and I really enjoy spending time with her.  She's got a super funny sense of humor.  And I'm so grateful for the wonderful, happy girls she's becoming.
