Bad Luck

I think I am cursed.

I thought it was bad enough to be on bed rest in the hospital for two weeks anxiously awaiting to see if my precious babies were going to make it or not. But apparently that wasn't enough--while I was in the hospital I got called to Jury Duty. Hooray! (If you can't detect the sarcasm in that statement, you need to get to know me better.)

Ever since Isaac and I moved to Wisconsin all sorts of random and terrible things have happened to us. I have never considered myself a lucky person (because I never win anything), but I haven't considered myself unlucky either--until recently.

Here's what has happened since moving to Milwaukee (keep in mind that we have been here just over two years):
  • I have been rear ended--Twice. Once in each of our cars. Now a logical person could assume that I am just a bad driver and like to slam on the brakes. And I could believe that too, except the circumstances were exactly the same both times I was rear ended and there was absolutely nothing that I did. Both times I was completely stopped at a red light--and had been for a while--when some bozo hits me. That's just as bad as hitting a parked car.
  • Some guy ran his car through our garage door. Yep, smashed it right in. Isaac and I had to pry the mangled door off the track so I could get the car out and go to work.
  • Our basement flooded. Although the flooding wasn't very bad and didn't cause any permanent damage, it did knock out our water heater. One plumber told us that we would have to buy a new one, but after calling around another plumber talked me through fixing it myself.
  • The passing of our sweet Peter and Jane. By far this was the worst thing that could ever happen to us-- and this includes all the hospital drama.
  • And now Jury Duty.
So for those of you who are lucky, feel free to send some of that luck my way.

Oh Marcy, I'm so sorry that all those things have happend to you. I hate jury duty. I got it two times, when I was pregnant with Addy and a Carter. It's the pits. I totally got the sarcasm, I miss that sarcasm. I dont' have very good luck, but I will try with all my might to send you some.

Are you kidding me? I can't wait to be put on jury duty. I think I would be awesome at doling out justice. Oh yeah! You should be saying how lucky you are!
