At the end of April we went on our trip to Florida that we gave the kids for Christmas. We flew out on a Saturday and go there around 5pm. Hazel was hilarious at the airport and just kept walking on the moving sidewalks over and over again. The flight there was nice because of covid they didn't seat anyone in the middle seats. So even though Hazel was a free "lap child", she got her own seat and we didn't have to share rows with anyone that wasn't in our family.
After we landed we got our rental car (which always takes forever), went to the grocer store, and drove to our condo. It was a really nice 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo. We were up on the 4th floor so the kids had fun riding the elevator to and from the condo. But shortly after we walked in, Isaac and I set our phones on the kitchen counter. Isaac left with the 3 older kids to get more bags and I was going to stay in the condo putting groceries away. At our house we have round doorknobs that Hazel can't open, but the condo had those lever kind which we learned quickly that she could open. So she immediately opened the door and ran out. I dropped what I was doing and chased after her, but the door slammed shut really quickly and we were locked out. Both our phones with the 10 digit keycode were on the counter. Fortunately I printed all the paperwork for the trip and it was in the bags Isaac was bringing up from the car so we got back in. But it could have been really bad.
We went out for dinner at a burger place that night and then went to bed.
The following day was Sunday, so we got ready and drove to Gary and Sarah's house. They had made a truly spectacular breakfast for us. It had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and a massive pancake bar complete with multiple syrups, dulce de leche (which was delicious), whip cream, fruit, marshmallows, sprinkles, etc. They also had tons of fruit and veggies and a yogurt parfait bar. We ate sooo much and it was delicious.
Then we just hung out at their house most of the day. We watched their sacrament meeting on tv. The kids had fun playing with cousins. And it was really nice to catch up with Gary and Sarah. It was very enjoyable and relaxing.
The Sarah prepared lunch that was just as elaborate and amazing as breakfast. We had multiple types of lunch meat and breads. She cooked sausages or bratwurst, and there was tons of fruit and veggies. We were all still stuffed from breakfast, but still ate until we were bursting because it was so good.
We stayed until late afternoon when we left to meet up with our friends, the Roberts, who were flying in. They are some friends from medical school and have kids the same ages as our kids (minus Hazel). We told them we would cook dinner and they could come right over after they landed. They accidentally reserved their rental car in Tampa instead of Orlando, so it took a while to figure that out. But they came over and we had a taco dinner and the kids got re-introduced from our Moab trip.
