Christmas

I'm behind again...Let's see if I can even remember what happened 3 months ago...

Christmas this year seemed to come really quickly.  We didn't ever make it downtown to see the lights.  Hannah got married about 2 weeks before Christmas, so we had a few extra family functions to squeeze in.

Our whole family got matching pajamas this year.  Isaac has always pooh-poohed when I have wanted to do that, but I did it anyway this year.  I thought it was fun.

We were able to decorate gingerbread houses.  The pre-made kits are the way to go!  The kids actually made gingerbread houses at the neighbor's house and at school, so our counters were overflowing with them.

On few nights before Christmas Isaac made a traditional German meal for dinner.  We invited my family over.  Some of the food looked funny and everyone was a little skeptical about eating it, but most of it turned out good (or at least edible).  Steve seemed to really enjoy it.  Isaac wants this to be a yearly tradition for our family.

On Christmas Eve we opened our new Christmas story.  And after reading that we read the Bible story of Jesus' birth.

On Christmas morning the kids woke up bright and early to see if Santa had come.  They were so excited.  Santa brought Sophie and Aspen some new skis.  And Luke got a big Hot Wheels track.  The girls also got some Hatchimals.  And Luke got some Star Wars toys.  Poor Hazel didn't get much besides a few outfits.  Being the 3rd girl and 4th child doesn't leave much that she needs.  But she didn't mind.

But our big family gift this year was a hot tub.  It was delivered over 1 month before Christmas.  Isaac covered it with a tarp and some boxes.  The kids played in the backyard multiple times, but didn't even notice it.  Haha.  So they were all really surprised Christmas morning.

Then we went to Grandma Sugar's house.  We opened even more presents.  This year they waited for us before opening their other gifts.  I thought it was more fun to see what they got and not just have all the attention on my family.  Kevin gave Luke a Star Wars Lego ship and they had fun building it together.

I gave Jason a cool beer belly fanny pack.  I thought it was hilarious.  I was hoping we would get invited to a white elephant party so I could give it as a gift, but we didn't have that opportunity.  But Jason totally didn't appreciate it.  He wouldn't even try it on.  Stinker.

We stayed for lunch and part of the afternoon before heading up to Ogden.

At Grandma Karla's house the kids had fun playing with all their cousins.  Grandma gave each of the kids a memory box to put their special stuff in.

We had a great Christmas season and enjoyed being together with our families.
