We stayed in a hotel, which the kids thought was a lot of fun. The first night we went to the Cache Valley Fun Park. We could choose to go bowling or roller skating. And we each got $20 to spend at the arcade. The kids didn't last very long roller skating. And it was exhausting trying to hold Luke up as he attempted to skate. So we spent most of the time at the arcade. We had $100 in tokens. At some places that amount wouldn't go very far, but at this place it was a struggle to use it all. As soon as we walked in the kids looked at the prize table. They immediately wanted to win the stuffed animals that were 1200 tickets each. I told them that wasn't likely and we would probably get enough tickets for them to each get a Tootsie Roll or a spider ring. But that place dished out tickets like I've never seen. Sophie found a really good game where she just dropped a token down a slot and it rolled down a ramp and if it went through a hole she got tickets. We just gave her a huge cup of tokens and set her there to use them all up. (I'm a little worried that we started a gambling addiction in her, because it seemed like she was hooked like those people at slot machines in Vegas.) But she earned a TON of tickets. Isaac and I tried to help Aspen and Luke play a bunch of games, but they weren't very into it. After a while we began to realize that we might be able to earn a stuffed animal they could share after all. So finally we used up all our tokens and counted our tickets. We ended up having over 3600 tickets! So each kid got to pick their own stuffed animal. They thought it was the greatest thing ever. Sophie got a dolphin. Aspen got a husky/wolf. And Luke got a seal.
The next day we went skiing at Cherry Hill. We had stayed up late the night before at the arcade and all the kids were a bit of a mess. When we got to the parking lot and started putting the kid's ski boots on, Aspen started throwing a massive tantrum. She didn't want to wear her boots and was completely unreasonable. Cherry Hill also had a tubing hill that we could use with the pass. So I convinced Isaac to take Sophie skiing, and I would stay on the tubing hill with Aspen and Luke. That worked out well and Isaac and Sophie took off. But we didn't have any cell service up there. So I took the littles on the hill. Fortunately they had a moving sidewalk that we stood on to the top of the hill. It was still a lot of work to get 2 kids on there (because they fell over stepping onto it the first few times) while holding 3 tubes. The hill itself wasn't amazing, but we did it for quite a while. Around lunch time all our friends were ready to go. And my kids had already pooped out and I was just hanging out with them in the lodge. But I had no way to get in touch with Isaac. So we just waited and waited. Eventually they showed up for lunch and we forced them to leave. He and Sophie could have kept going and said it was a good hill and they were having fun. But all our friends had taken off and we decided to go meet up with them.
We grabbed some lunch and then went to the Logan Ice Rink. We skated for a while, but the kids were dropping like flies. They were exhausted and over-stimulated. So we skated for about an hour before deciding to cut our losses and go home. But the kids still had a great time and talk about how great that arcade was!
