So we drove down on a Thursday afternoon and got there really late that night. (Note to self: Next time don't get there so late. It was a big mistake for the trip.) We hoped the kids would sleep in the car, but somehow we have the only kids on the planet who don't sleep in cars. So Aspen and Luke were bawling the last hour of the drive. They crashed as soon as we got there, but they never really recovered and were tired the rest of the trip.
On Friday morning my family rented some "RZR" ATVs and went for a ride. My little family went biking on the Virgin River parkway trail instead. We thought it would be a good idea to park outside the National Park and bike in, but we parked waaaaay too far outside. After biking 2-3 miles up the road we realized we still weren't even close, so Isaac went back to get the car. We threw all the bikes in the back and drove to Zion. Aspen had done pretty well on her bike until then, but she was obviously exhausted and we were worried she wouldn't bike at all in the park.
Then we biked to a picnic area and ate lunch. And then biked the Pa'rus trail along the Virgin River Parkway. Aspen and Luke rode in the bike trailer and Sophie rode her bike. Sophie did such a good job riding and went really far and didn't complain. It was a really a really beautiful ride and wasn't very steep.
Then we went back to the egg house for naps. We ended up hanging around there the rest of the day. But Jamie and Jason made it more fun for the kids. We went to the park across the street, did a puzzle, and watched a movie.
On Saturday morning while Isaac and I were packing we told the girls to go to the front yard and look for 4 leaf clovers. St. Patrick's day was coming up and we told them that they are lucky. Seriously 2 minutes later Sophie came back inside saying she found a 4 leaf clover. We didn't believe her, but she really had one. Then 1 minute after that Aspen came in with one. We were shocked and explained that they are supposed to be hard to find and we've spent hours looking and never found one. So we all went outside to look and found lots of 4 leaf clovers, a couple 5 leaf clovers, and Jamie found a 6 leaf clover. So I kind-of worry about the radiation around that area or something.
Then on Saturday we went for a hike with my family just outside LaVerkin near I-15. We were supposed to be hiking to an arch, but we never found it. Again Sophie did great on the hike. Aspen was still tired and had to be carried a lot. At one point we stopped and Isaac took Luke out of the pack to walk around. He took 2 steps, tripped and hit is head on a rock. So that didn't last long. Poor boy.
Then we drove home. It was a short trip, but still lots of fun.
