I love how excited she was to see all her new toys.
I made a birthday banner and hung balloons to decorate for Sophie's party.
Sophie had a train cake this year because she is obsessed with trains. (Also it was an easy cake to make, and since I just had a baby I wasn't up for doing anything too elaborate.)
Sophie and Aspen wearing their party hats. Aspen wasn't even 3 weeks old in this picture, so she looks like we are torturing her. :)
Sophie just opened her new dishes/tea party set. She was excited.
Eating birthday cake. Yum.
Here are some fun things about Sophie:
- Sophie's favorite tv shows are: Super Why, Curious George, Cat in the Hat, and Jane and the Dragon. She recently started branching out and watched her first movies (it takes her 2-3 nights to finish one movie). She loves Toy Story and Monsters Inc. Sophie gets really involved in her shows. She always talks to the tv when the characters ask a question. And she frequently starts screaming "Oh no" and cries if any of the characters are in trouble. She has now cried during Curious George, Jane and the Dragon, Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Monsters Inc.
- Sophie is a fairly good eater. She loves lunch and will eat more than I do many days. She isn't very daring about trying new foods, so dinner is the biggest meal struggle of the day.
- Sophie LOVES nursery. We were out of town the other week and only went to sacrament meeting and she started bawling because we weren't going to nursery. At nursery, she has been learning lots of new songs that she tries to sing.
- Sophie loves "playing" with friends. She is really social and is happiest when she is around other kids. But she still doesn't really know how to interact with them most of the time. She just likes to feel like she is included by having other children near by.
- Sophie knows all her ABC's, and can count to 10. She is getting better at counting how many things are present, but doesn't always get it right.
- Sophie is a great big sister. She loves Aspen and helps me take care of her. She will try to shove the binkie in her mouth if I ever leave it in range. She will help me burp Aspen when I am done nursing. She will say "don't cry Aspen" whenever she is upset and will sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to help her stop crying. For the most part she has been really sweet and gentle with Aspen.
