Halloween

This year I decided to throw a Halloween party for our family.  I have wanted to have a Halloween party for many years, but never actually did it.  I wanted to have all creepy food and have people wear costumes.  We had a skull meat-head for crackers and cheese, worm jello, brain and heart shaped jello, chili (I meant to put plastic bugs in this, but forgot at the last minute), witches brew, bone and finger breadsticks, witches hats, and cupcakes.

Isaac was a knight (the skirt he is wearing is supposed to be a kilt, but he just looked ridiculous), Sophie was a dragon again (I wanted to get her a new costume, but Isaac is a holiday ruin-er and decided if he could squish her into last year's costume that would be good enough), and I was a wizard (I didn't want to be a princess, so I put on the wizard costume I wore in elementary school).

Then after eating we watched an awesomely awful Halloween movie--"Ernest Scared Stupid".  It was a lot of fun.

We also went to a local pumpkin patch/kid's corn maze one afternoon.  For some reason Sophie was really grumpy this whole trip and didn't seem to enjoy anything.  I thought she would have a blast just running around outside, but she just wanted to be held the whole time.  Maybe she will like it better next year.

One afternoon before Halloween, my friend Melodie and her kids went with Sophie and I to Gardner Village to check out the witches.  It was fun to get out and walk around in the fall air, but that place was packed with other families doing the same thing.

On Halloween night we went Trick-or-Treating around our neighborhood.  We only went down our street and up the next one, but Sophie still got a ton of candy.  I made Sophie a fun little Trick-or-Treating bag that was shaped like Frankenstein.  Sophie was great at knocking on the doors.  Every time someone opened the door she tried to walk into their house.  Also, it seemed like everyone in our neighborhood has a dog.  So as soon as we would ring the doorbell the dog would bark.  Sophie then would say "woof woof" at every door.  One of the first houses we went to gave Sophie a glow stick.  What a great idea!  She was completely satisfied walking around the rest of the night holding on to her glow stick.  Apparently next year I need to get Sophie a more feminine costume, because everyone who answered their door said, "what a cute little boy".  Why can't girls be dragons?  Anyway, we had a great Halloween as a family.
