Sophie is 4 1/2 Years Old

My little Sophie isn't so little anymore.  I keep telling her to stop growing and she just laughs and says, "I can't mama".  Sophie is seriously the most amazing girl.  She has the sweetest, most thoughtful personality.  She frequently will bring home something from her treasure box at preschool and give it to Aspen.  Any time she gets money (like finding a dime on the ground) she talks about "buying a guy for Baby Luke" or buying something for someone else.  She never thinks about doing things for herself.  She also love drawing pictures for people.  Most pictures say "Mom I Love You" on them. Sophie is always smiling and laughing and I love how happy she is.

Sophie is so smart.  She has been reading books from preschool and can even figure out lots of bigger words.  She has also been learning to add.  At first she was struggling, but one day it clicked and she is getting really good at addition.  She also has a freakishly good memory, so I think she is able to memorize larger addition problems easily.  Isaac recently found an ipad game with the US States.  She has been learning all sorts of weird facts about the states and can recognize most of them by their shape, flag, capital, or other geographical features.  I am constantly amazed with what she can absorb at such a young age.

Sophie loves to be around friends.  She gets along so well with everyone.  Lately she has been imagining a lot.  She would play with Aspen and say things like, "let's get in the rocket ship and go to Saturn".  Aspen would reply with, "Why?".  It was hilarious because Aspen just wasn't at the same stage of imagining yet.  But after a few weeks of playing pretend with Sophie, Aspen really picked up on it and they will run around all morning imagining all sorts of scenarios.  I love eavesdropping on their conversations and it always cracks me up.

Sophie has become a really good eater lately.  She has always eaten breakfast really slowly (that hasn't changed), and had a good lunch, but she used to struggle with dinner.  But lately she has been really good about trying new things and finishing her whole plate.

A few months ago we borrowed some regular Legos from Grandma Sugar, and Sophie has been playing with them for hours.  It is great.  She builds lots of cool things (mostly houses for Beara and her other guys).  But I have been amazed at her attention span for playing Legos.

Sophie is really such an angel.  I love talking with her and hearing her ideas about things and hearing about all the things she remembers.  She is so thoughtful and such a good helper.  She has been so good with Baby Luke and wants to hold him and help in any way she can.  She has also been such a good sport when I get tired in the afternoon while Aspen is napping.  I read to her and play with her for a while, but eventually I tell her I need a break, and she is so supportive and plays so quietly by herself to let mama take a little rest.  Sophie is my best friend and I hope I can be more like her.
