Aspen is 4 Months Old

In November Aspen turned 4 months old.  Here are some things about her:

  • Aspen rolled over for the first time at 3 1/2 months old.  She rolled from her back to her stomach first.  I ran downstairs to get some laundry and when I came back up a minute later she was crying on her tummy.  I assumed Sophie "helped" her onto tummy time.  But the next day I actually saw her roll on her own.  She didn't roll from her tummy to her back for a few more weeks.  At first she rolled a lot, but would always start crying because she didn't like being on her tummy.  Then she figured out that by not rolling she wouldn't be on her tummy so she stopped rolling.  But once she learned to roll both ways she doesn't mind doing it anymore.
  • At 4 months Aspen started sucking her thumb.  Halleluiah!  For the first time in her life she soothed herself to sleep in her bouncer.  Due to Aspen's need to nap in my arms, and the fact she started sucking her thumb, I decided to try and sleep-train her a little.  So for a week I worked on getting her to sleep alone in her crib.  I could never let Sophie "cry it out", so I was worried about trying it with Aspen.  But the very first time she only cried for about 5 minutes until she started sucking her thumb and then she fell asleep.  It has been wonderful.
  • We also started Aspen on rice cereal at about 4 1/2 months.  As expected, she didn't eat much at first.  But the first three nights after eating rice cereal she slept through  the night.  (Unfortunately that didn't last and she reverted back to eating every 2 hours.  Argh.)
  • Sophie and Aspen take baths semi-together now.  Sophie thinks it is so much fun.  Aspen could care less.  But it is really cute to watch them in the bathtub together.
Aspen's Statistics:
Height:  25.6 inches  (93%)
Weight:  15 lbs 9.5 oz  (93%)

Aspen is growing up so fast.  She is so big and beautiful.  She has the most gorgeous, dark eyes.  They completely sparkle when she smiles.  She loves her mama and loves to be held.  She seems really needy, but that's just because she loves attention.  We love our little girl so much.
