Nauvoo

On our drive from Milwaukee to Utah, we took a slight detour to visit Nauvoo for a couple days.  We stayed at a really inexpensive place called "Camp Nauvoo".  They had little cabins with bunk beds and a community bath.  Isaac and I didn't think they were that bad, but Isaac's parents didn't seem to enjoy them much.  Isaac's mom walked into a cobweb as she entered the cabin and I think that freaked her out and made her skeptical about the cleanliness of the entire place (although there were cobwebs everywhere in Nauvoo).

Nauvoo is a beautiful little town where the missionaries dress up as pioneers and give tours of the historic sites.  Sophie was a trooper the entire time we were traveling.  We dragged her around to a million places and threw off her routine, but she was such a good baby the whole time.

Isaac and I were also able to do a temple session in the beautiful Nauvoo Temple.  It was a great experience.

One of my favorite parts of the trip were the carriage and wagon rides.  We took a few tours around the city while the missionaries explained a lot about the history of the area.  The entire ride was beautiful and peaceful.  It made me more relaxed and feel like I was actually around in pioneer days.

We also had the opportunity to visit Carthage Jail where Joseph Smith was martyred.  It was really humbling to be there and learn more about what the prophet went through during that time.  I learned a lot of things that I didn't know before.

Overall it was wonderful trip that was very fun and helped break up the long drive back to Utah.
