During our honeymoon Isaac surprised me by taking me to a rodeo near where we were staying. So we have started a tradition of trying to attend a rodeo for every wedding anniversary. We have missed a few, but we were thrilled a couple years ago when we found a rodeo in Wisconsin to continue our tradition.
Once again we traveled the 2 hours to the small town to attend the rodeo. I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to go this year because I was 36 weeks pregnant, but we decided to go for it. The day was beautiful, but hot as could be. It was probably about 90 degrees with 100% humidity. We stopped at the outlet malls on the way to the rodeo and window shopped. Then we went out to dinner and finished the drive to the town of Manawa. We came to this rodeo two years ago and it was awesome. This year was no different. The cowboys are great. The announcer and rodeo clown were hilarious. The drive was peaceful and beautiful.
The only downside was the heat. I seriously thought I was cooking my baby alive. Everyone else at the rodeo was wearing shorts and tank tops. And I was wearing my maternity capris with one of those belly bands that goes way up high and a regular t-shirt. I was melting. We brought a bunch of water, but we drank it before the rodeo was half over. On our way home we stopped at a gas station and each got a liter of Gatorade. We chugged those drinks all the way back to Milwaukee.
I can't believe that Isaac and I have been married for six years. In some ways it feels like we just got married yesterday, but in other ways it feels like we have been married forever. I am so lucky to have him as my husband and father to our children. They have the best dad ever. I am grateful for all he does for me--which is really a lot because I am insanely picky and demanding. He is such a good example and hard worker. I am so excited for our coming years as our family is expanding. I can't wait to see what is in store this coming year.
