Wisconsin State Fair

On August 6th, Isaac, our friend Sarah, and I went to the Wisconsin State Fair. The State Fair out here is a really big event. We couldn't believe how many people showed up to the fair. My expectations for the fair were low because of our previous experiences with the festivals. But I must say, the fair was worth going to.

When we first got into the fair grounds, there were a lot of carnival rides. I enjoyed looking at them, but since I was accompanied by two wusses, I wasn't able to go on any. The fair is known for a few things:
1) Any food deep-fat fried (Examples: cheese curds, pickles, Snickers, ...).
2) Any food on a stick (Examples: corn dogs, cheese cake, chocolate covered bacon, ...).
3) Flavored milk for $0.25 per cup. (Wisconsin is the dairy state.)
4) Pig races.
5) Cream puffs.

The first thing we tried was the flavored milk. Sarah got in line for us, and when we met up with her some old guy pretended to know us so he could cut in line. Then he talked to us the whole time until we got our milk. It was really weird, but he was a nice older gentleman. We tried root beer, banana, cherry vanilla, and strawberry flavored milk. It was really tasty, but we didn't feel very good after drinking that much milk.

Then we walked around a much of animal tents. I was amazed how clean these tents were. We saw one cow pooping, but as soon as the pooh hit the ground a kid came and scooped it up and removed it. What prompt service!

This is a picture of Sarah and I looking at chickens, roosters, and rabbits.

This is a picture of Isaac by the biggest cow I have ever seen. (Really, it was huge!)

While we were at the fair, we had to tried the famous Wisconsin cream puffs. We had to wait in a huge line to get to the cream puffs. Below is a picture of a cream puff. They were pretty good, but fairly difficult to eat.

Then we went to the Expo Center. This is where they have a bunch of the info-merchial devices on display. This would probably have been the most interesting part of the whole fair, but unfortunately we were only able to stay here for about 15 min. Next year we will definitely budget more time for the gadget demos.

The last thing we did at the fair was go to a pig race. This is where they let four pigs race around a track. After all the hype, the pig races were a bit of a let down. But all in all, we had a good time.
