Random Happenings

Here are some of the things we have been up to lately:

Splashparks:

As soon as summer started, we began going to the splashparks.  I think we went 4 times in one week, and I got burned out so we haven't been going quite as much lately.

Also, both Sophie and Aspen just finished 2 weeks of swimming lessons.  Aspen was terrible the first day and refused to get in the water and screamed the entire time.  A bunch of other parents kept trying to give me advice, which was very much NOT appreciated.  Aspen was expecting to be in Sophie's class and was distraught when she was put with the 3 year olds.  But by the third day she was fine and went with her class and had a fun time.

Bridalveil Falls:

One Saturday we decided to let the girls ride their bikes to Bridalveil Falls.  The normal way we do it (biking up the canyon) would have been too long and steep for the girls.  So instead we drove past the falls to a parking area about 1 mile up the road.  They then biked down the trail to the falls.  The girls did awesome!  They were cruising and Isaac and I had to jog (pushing Luke in the stroller) to keep up with them.  Then on the way back we attached some ropes to their bikes to pull them when they got tired.  Brilliant!  (Actually I originally brought them so we could hold on to the girls to keep them from going downhill too fast.  But they were fine on that part because it wasn't very steep, but it worked great for getting them back to the car when they got tired.)

Visit with Granny:

We decided it was about time for Granny to meet Luke, so we went over one Sunday to visit her.  She wanted to hold him, but kept saying things like, "He's probably going to cry as soon as I touch him."  "Babies don't like me."  "He's going to be scared of me."  But Luke is the sweetest and happiest baby in the world, so he was all smiles when she held him.  Then Granny got him laughing and laughing.  It was so cute.  He probably won't remember her, so I'm glad I got some videos and pictures of them together.

Hogle Zoo:

ARUP had a company party at the zoo again this year.  So the kids and I picked Isaac up from work and went to the zoo.  It was a hot day.  We were able to see all the animals, go for a train ride, get our faces painted, eat dinner, and ride the merry-go-round a few times.  The girls had a ton of fun.  And I let Luke try soda pop for the first time because I was worried he was too hot.

Father's Day:

Sophie was really excited to give Isaac his Father's Day presents this year.  The girls helped me decorate the wrapping paper.  We got him a few more camping items that we didn't have yet.  And these pictures crack my up because Isaac looks so hammered in all of them.  Ha ha.

Aquarium:

We have also gone to the aquarium a few times this summer.  Lacey and her kids bought a pass to the aquarium, so we have gone with them a few times.  It's always more fun with cousins.  The kids still love the playplace and the 4D movies the best (although Luke hated the movie because it sprayed water in his face in the first minute and he started screaming like I've never heard him before.  Poor boy.  So I held him on the side of the theater where he would be out of the way of 4D special effects.)

 Jungle Jim's:

We also went to Jungle Jim's Playland a few times.   They only have about 6 rides and 4 bounce houses, but for $2 it's a great deal.  We went there once with Sophie's friend, Makenzie.  And another time with James and Avery.
