We drove up there on a Monday morning and stopped in Logan Canyon for a picnic lunch. As soon as we got to Bear Lake we went to the beach. The girls had a lot of fun playing in the water and sand.
We rented a condo at Harbor Village again this year. And as soon as we checked in, the girls wanted to go swimming in the pool.
The next day we went for a bike ride (Sophie and Aspen) and rollerblading ride (Isaac and me pushing Luke in the stroller). It was really hot and the girls did a lot of whining at first. We brought our straps to pull them again, but just as we got to the park Isaac pulled Aspen over a dirt road and dumped her off her bike and skinned her leg pretty bad. I patched her up with the one band-aide I miraculously had in the snack bag I was carrying.
Later we went to the beach and had fun playing in the sand and swimming in the water. Luke wasn't a fan of the cold water, but the girls loved it.
On Wednesday morning we met up with Lacey and Justin and their kids at the Minnetonka Caves. We had to wait for a while to get in because it was fairly crowded up there. We had no idea what to expect, but the caves turned out to be really cool. We went for a guided tour about 0.5 miles into the caves. There were tons of stairs and stalagtites and stalagmites.
After the cave we stopped at a picnic area for lunch before heading back to the condo for naps. After naps we went to play at the beach. Sophie and Aspen loved having their cousins to play with and they could have played all night. But we packed up and went for pizza and shakes to finish the evening.
On Thursday it was stormy so we mostly just hung around the condo and took it easy. We watched movies and had a more relaxing day. It was nice to have some down time because the kids were exhausted from all the fun we had over the last few days.
On Friday we packed up and stopped for a hike in Logan Canyon on the way home. By this time the girls were exhausted and whined for most of the hike. Thankfully Isaac was able to carry them most of the way so we could finally get back to the car.
Overall we had a great time. It was a lot of fun for the girls to have their cousins to play with some of the time. We will definitely have to go with other people in the future. And we still think Bear Lake is a great place to go with such young kids.
