Aspen at 16 and 17 Months

Aspen is growing up so fast.  She is such a wild, energetic little girl.  There are a group of old men in the ward who enjoy watching her give Isaac and I a run for our money during sacrament meeting.  They have nicknamed her "Houdini" because she is an expert at distracting us while she works some sort of mischief (often including vanishing).  Here are some things about my crazy baby:

  • Aspen is a good eater.  She eats and eats and eats.  She eats about 3 times what Sophie eats everyday.  She starts crying at about 4:30pm every afternoon because she can't wait for dinner to be served and has NO patience when it comes to me preparing her food.
  • Aspen has been sleeping really well.  She goes right up to brush her teeth and go to bed when we tell her it's time.  And she will sleep for about 11 hours straight through the night.  She also goes down really easily for her nap, but often only lasts for about 1 hour.
  • She still isn't really talking at all.  We have been trying to make her say words before giving her things, but she knows that we know what she wants, so she refuses to talk.
  • She still loves bath time.  Aspen has been our water baby since she was born.
  • Aspen still cries and whines a lot.  She doesn't smile or laugh very easily.  I wish she seemed more happy most of the time, but she just has a serious personality.  She loves watching and analyzing people, but is always glaring at everyone.
  • Aspen has absolutely no interest in tv.  Sophie loved tv and would currently spend the whole day watching if we let her, but Aspen will watch for about 2 minutes and get bored.  I often wish she would watch for one episode of something just so I can get something done, but so far that hasn't happened.
We love our wild and crazy little girl.  She definitely has more energy than I know what to do with.  But she is such a funny little girl.  She is always doing something silly that makes me laugh.  She has a feisty personality, and I can see a lot of my own characteristics in her.  I love you Little A.
