Isaac had some time off work over Memorial Day weekend, so we went up to the Tetons and Isaac's family's old farm house in Star Valley, Wyoming.
We left one evening after Isaac got off work. We stopped for dinner in Evanston and then spend the first night at the farm. The next morning we left and drove a few more hours to the Tetons.
We started the trip by hiking around Jenny Lake to a waterfall. Isaac and I each had a kid in a backpack and every time we passed by anyone they had to make a comment.
The trail was fairly flat, but there were still snow drifts all along the way, so we had to climb up and down those and try not to slide with the girls. The hike was about 5 miles round trip, and by the end I couldn't wait to take the backpack off.
But the girls were both amazing the whole time. They hardly fussed or cried at all.
Sophie even had her first experience peeing behind a tree. (And Isaac's first experience helping a girl pee behind a tree.)
We stayed at a condo in Teton Village. The condo was great. It was so nice having a separate room for the girls to sleep in and a small kitchen and eating area. Aspen was able to finally wear her moose pajamas. Every time she would have them on Sophie would start chanting "the moose is loose, the moose is loose".
The next day we biked from the visitor center up to Jenny Lake. Originally we didn't think this was going to be a great ride, but our options are limited when pulling a bike trailer. But this was actually a lot of fun.
We saw a fox, elk, antelope, and lots of birds. When we got to Jenny Lake a group of Asian tourists was walking past and saw the girls in the bike trailer. They all stopped and started taking pictures and talking to us in Chinese (or whatever language). It was hilarious.
We also went for a short bike ride near our condo and saw a whole herd of elk.
The last day at the Tetons we drove up to the top of the park and hiked around a lake. Sophie really wanted to hike this time and did a great job. She slid down the snowbanks like a pro and almost hiked the entire 2 miles.
After the Tetons we drove back to the Lloyd's farm. Isaac's parents and Hannah and Wade were there too.
One day we drove to the nearby fish hatchery to see all the fish. Sophie thought that was pretty cool. And Aspen learned to bark at the dogs.
We also went for some short hikes and bike rides from the farm.
One evening while Aspen was napping, Isaac, Sophie, Hannah, Wade, and I walked across the field to some neighboring horses. Sophie started feeding them grass and was absolutely fearless. We had to watch her closely so she didn't get her hand bitten off by the horses. She was also so adorable because she kept saying "hey horsey horsey" the whole time. She had so much fun.
