Aspen at 10 and 11 Months

Aspen is growing up so fast that I can't keep up with updating my blog appropriately, so I will just combine some things about her at 10-11 months.

  • Aspen is such a goofy girl.  She has a funny sense of humor and laughs the most when she is pestering someone.  She knows when she does things we don't want her to and does it just to get attentions.  (For example: She crawls up the stairs to Sophie's room to wake Sophie up from her nap every time  I look away.)
  •  Aspen is very aggressive.  She loves clawing, scratching, pulling hair, etc.  She pulls Isaac's glasses off his face every chance she gets.  It's really impressive how fast she is at snatching things.  She also loves stealing Sophie's binkie, and they both just laugh and laugh.
  •  Aspen makes really great facial expressions.
  •  She as a really toothy grin and a little underbite, so when she smiles she scrunches her nose and has a little "I'm going to eat you" look about her.  It is really adorable though.
  • Aspen loves bath time.  She and Sophie have lots of fun playing in the water and making "crazy hair".
  •  Aspen isn't really into toys.  She loves whatever someone else has and tries to take it from them.  She will pass by a roomful of toys to steal something from Sophie.

  •  She puts everything in her mouth instantly.  We love being outside, but I can't ever set her down because she tries to eat rocks, dirt, sand, grass, leaves, etc.
  •  Aspen is a good eater.  She always acts like she is starving even though she eats and eats and eats.  She has completely given up baby food because she wants what everyone else is having and wants to do it herself.  She is really good about trying anything we set in front of her, and she usually eats more than Sophie does.  But she sure is messy by the time she is finished.  And she hates being cleaned up.  She screams like she is being murdered when you try to wash her hands.
  •  Aspen is very serious and observant.  She picks up on everything and watches everything.  She is already very smart and knows how to push people's buttons.
  • She is also a climber.  Sophie was a terrible climber, but Aspen is fearless.  She has climbed out of the bathtub, onto chairs, is frequently trying to scale the kitchen cabinets, etc.  She is very good at going up the stairs and recently learned to climb down the stairs all by herself.
  • Aspen is a terrible sleeper!  She doesn't nap for longer than 1 hour most of the time.  And lately she has been nursing 3 times a night.  She only goes 2-3 hours between feeds.  Seriously!  She is almost 1 year old and still wakes up like a newborn.  I don't know what to do.  I have tried everything, but nursing is the only things that soothes her in the night.  She screams her head off if Isaac steps in her room at night.  She only wants her mama.  It would be sweet if I weren't so exhausted.
  • Aspen has no fear of strangers.  She crawls up to everyone at church and pulls herself up to see if they have anything for her to play with.  She probably drives people crazy, but I like to think they all think she is adorable.
Aspen is definitely a handful and keeps us on our toes.  She is a very busy baby and never stops moving.  People always comment "that she never sits still does she?".  They have no idea.  But I guess that should be expected if you know Isaac and my personalities.  But even with all the challenges she brings, we love her so much.  Aspen is so very beautiful and funny.  I love watching her play with Sophie and can tell they are going to be best friends.  I can't believe how fast the time has gone since Aspen was born.  She is an amazing little girl and I am so blessed to be her mom.
