Sophie 5 Months

I know this post is a whole month late, but I had computer difficulties uploading my videos. But I am going to post this information anyway for my own records and for those of you interested in watching the cutest baby in the world.

Sophie had a busy month and learned a lot of new things before she turned 5 months old. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by. My baby girl is a big girl now--at least she thinks she is.

Statistics (this was for her 4 month appointment, but she didn't make it to the doctor until 4.5 months):
Height: I don't remember the exact number, but she was still off the charts
Weight: 15 lbs 15 oz

Isaac, Sophie, and I spent a bunch of our time in Utah visiting family while Isaac was interviewing for residency programs. It was great for them to see some of her new abilities. Here are some interesting accomplishments that Sophie has had over the last month:
  • Sophie rolled over from her tummy to her back for the first time on Dec. 12th, 2011. She did it a couple times and within 3 days was a rolling pro. She was really excited about never having to do tummy time again. Now any time I set her on her tummy, she just rolls right over.
  • She rolled from her back to her tummy a week or two after rolling from her tummy to her back. She did it three times in about an hour and each time looked shocked and annoyed that she ended up on her tummy. Then she never really did it again because it was an accident.
  • Sophie is getting really good at playing with her toys. She is showing much more interest in them and is getting much better at reaching and grasping them.
  • She is getting really good at sitting up, she still requires the support of her Bumbo, couch, or parents, but does really well.
  • Sophie loves bouncing in her bouncer. She gets her legs pumping and can really fly. I have been worried she is going to bounce herself onto the floor--which is why she is no longer allowed to sit on the table in her bouncer.
  • Sophie laughs a lot more often, although it still takes quite a bit of effort to get her to laugh and it seems like it is still hard to chuckle more than a couple times. But our little girl has a crazy sense of humor--she laughs at the weirdest things. She likes to be startled. She laughs the most if she is slightly scared, then has a delayed response before laughing. She loves to be "Boo-ed" and "Roar-ed" at.
  • She still sleeps well through the night, but only naps in Mama's arms. She often wakes up for one feeding around 4:30am, but often makes it all the way through the night.
  • Sophie is a professional string grabber. I don't know how she does it, but she can find the strings on my hoodie within seconds.
  • On Christmas day Sophie ate rice cereal for the first time. Basically it just went in her mouth and she pushed it all back out. But we recorded her first attempt.

We are so grateful to have this little angel in our lives. She makes us laugh all the time and is such a sweet baby. I am so lucky to be able to stay home with her and experience everything she learns on a daily basis. She is absolutely spoiled with attention, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
