The desert scenery on this river is very beautiful. The water is usually fairly warm, and the calm stretches are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the serenity of being completely isolated from humanity.

But the worst part of this river is the mosquitoes. There are only two ways of dealing with this situation. 1) You can brave the mosquitoes to stay cool (which is what I did, as you can see from all the bites). 2) You can wear long clothes and boil in your own sweat because it is so incredibly hot (as Isaac chose). Only my mom had a third choice. She had a liver transplant and is on immune-suppressant drugs so that she does not react to the bites at all.
Nevertheless, we are still excited for the trip. We hope the rapids are just as fun as they were last year. We are also incredibly excited to eat at Cafe Rio every night we are in Salt Lake. (Since that is definitely one of the things we miss the most from Utah.)

Looks like a lot of fun! If you have time when you're here we should get together!
How fun...we're jealous of your trip! I agree about missing Cafe Rio. I have a recipe that comes pretty close. We should make it sometime!
