Thanksgiving

This was the first year Isaac and I have had Thanksgiving away from our families, which also meant we were responsible for cooking a lot of the food. We definitely gained a new appreciation for all the effort that goes into preparing a Thanksgiving meal.

On Thanksgiving morning Isaac and I decided to go see the new Twilight movie. We were a little late leaving because we were making lemon meringue pie, so we were afraid the movie would be sold out. When we arrived at the theater, the parking lot was empty. We walked into the mall and every store was locked up except the theater. There were absolutely no lines, and only 3 people were working there. As we were heading toward our theater I noticed the concessions person scooping popcorn into the garbage because no one was buying it. (I dared Isaac to go ask for free popcorn because they were throwing it away anyway, but he was chicken.) Our theater was completely empty--we were the only people in the whole room. It was really creepy. But it was also kind of fun because we could talk and make comments without bothering anyone. A few minute before the movie started one other couple came in. But that was it, 4 people in the entire theater. In Utah movie theaters are packed on Thanksgiving. But apparently people in Wisconsin don't go to the movies on holidays.

Thanksgiving dinner was held at our house. Isaac and I made potatoes, Jell-o, cracker and veggie trays, and 2 pies. And it did give me a chance to use my grandma's China for the first time. The Wolthuis' and their cousins were our only guests. We had a delicious meal and had plenty to eat. Our first Thanksgiving on our own was a success--but thankfully it only has to happen once a year. ;)
