Covid Thanksgiving

After Halloween there was a fairly large Covid outbreak in Utah.  The government and news people kept cautioning people about getting together for holiday gatherings.  Barry and Karla were very cautious and followed all the state rules and mandates explicitly through the whole pandemic.  So they decided to cancel our family Thanksgiving dinner.  (For a while there was talk about doing it outside in the freezing weather...)  So we thought about having dinner with my family, but Isaac didn't think that would be a good idea with my mom's immune-suppression.

Since we weren't going anywhere for dinner, I bought a turkey and put it in the fridge to thaw.  One day Luke saw it and asked "why is there a giant egg in the fridge?"  Haha.

Luke had a fun Thanksgiving feast at preschool and they made cute pilgrim clothes.

On Thanksgiving morning, we went for a hike in Draper with Jamie and Steve.  Our kids had obviously been cooped up at home for too long because Luke ran practically the entire way.

Since we didn't have any Thanksgiving dinner plans, and I didn't want to cook a huge dinner for our little family, so I invited Lacey and her family over.  I think Barry and Karla felt a little left-out, so they came down for a little bit to visit with the kids in the backyard.  I invited them to stay for dinner multiple times, but Barry was really concerned about getting covid and wouldn't eat food prepared by anyone else.

I got out the fancy china for the dinner (which I've only used a few times since we've been married).  But we had a very nice feast with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, Jell-o, cranberry sauce, rolls, pie, etc.

After dinner the kids all went hot tubing in the backyard.  It was a lot of fun.
