Aspen is 5 1/2 Years Old

As usual, I am way behind.

In January Aspen turned 5 1/2 years old.  Here are some things about Aspen:

  • Aspen is in kindergarten.  She is becoming a good little reader.  It took her a while for reading to "click", but she's starting to make some good progress.  She loves kindergarten.  Her teacher Ms. Mathews is really great.  And her best friend at school is a girl named Lia.
  • Aspen is my best helper.  She wakes up in the morning and gets dressed, makes her bed, and eats breakfast quickly.  She's the only one I don't have to bug about moving faster.  She is also my best cleaner-upper.  She knows where all the toys go and is great about helping me clean up after friends come over.
  • She is doing great at tumbling.  She recently learned her back walk-over.  And she's super buff.
  • Aspen is great about helping watch younger kids.  If I babysit for a friend with a baby, she will take over the mother role and bodyguard that child to keep it safe from Luke.
  • Aspen and Luke play really well together (for the most part).  Most mornings they play school.  Aspen has a great "teacher voice" and bosses Luke around.  She teaches him all sorts of school-y things and reads him books.  I love listening to them play together.
We love Aspen and she's growing up into such a great girl.  She was a very difficult toddler for me, but now she is probably the easiest kid in the family.
