Milwaukee Zoo

This weekend Isaac and I went to the Milwaukee zoo. We had a lot of fun. It had some really cool exhibits that the Hogle Zoo in Utah doesn't have. We got to the zoo right as it was opening, so we were able to go into a lot of the cages before many other people arrived. While we were looking at the gorillas, one of them came right over to us, stood up and banged his fists against the glass. It was cool, but it definitely showed how they could be scary in the wild.

They had a special exhibit of "Stingrays and Sharks". We got to go into a pool and pet the stingrays. The stingrays were a little slimy. Isaac was worried that they would sting him and he would die like Steve Irwin. But I assured him that he would be fine, and it turned out that he did live. (These pictures didn't turn out very well.

These are pictures of the Safari animals. They were running around wild when the train would go by.

Doesn't Isaac make a cute giraffe?

The zoo also had a really nice polar bear exhibit. Part of the view was above water, and part was underwater. While we were above water the large polar bear walked to a small cliff (about 5 ft high) and jumped right in. It was cool to see the huge splash the bear made. Then we could see the bears swimming around underwater. They are absolutely enormous, but they looked so fluffy and soft floating in the water.

The zoo also had a nice nocturnal exhibit where we could see bats and other weird creatures. The fish and reptile exhibit had a lot of ugly creatures. (I took more pictures, but the ones through glass did not turn out very well.) We had a great time, but the thing Isaac liked the most was listening to the things the little kids would say as they looked at the animals. There was one little boy that was looking at the cheetas when the cat turned and walked straight for the glass. The kids got so scared they started screaming and one boy fell over backwards trying to get away. It was great fun.
